Terms of use

Draft, last updated 2026-10-21
In short
•
Your card is yours. You decide who sees each detail.
•
Do not pretend to be someone else, and list only people who belong to your organisation.
•
You can stop at any time and take your information with you.
These terms are an agreement between you and Cincio Technologies ("Cincio", "we") about using Cincio, on the web or in an app. By making an account or a card you accept them. If you use Cincio for an organisation, you accept them for that organisation too, and confirm you may do so.
A card that you keep current, shared by link, opened only as far as you allow; connections between people; and organisation directories. Individuals use Cincio for free. [From 2027, organisations can subscribe to the Team plan; its price and terms are shown before you pay.]
•
You must be [18] or older.
•
You sign in with a one-time code sent to an email address (later, a phone number) you control. Keep access to that address safe; anyone who controls it can sign in as you.
•
One person, one personal card. Organisation cards are run by their owners and admins.
•
It stays yours. You own what you put on your card. You give Cincio permission to store it and show it to the people your visibility settings allow, and only for running Cincio. That permission ends when you delete it, apart from the short restore and deletion periods in the privacy policy.
•
Only true information about yourself. Don't put someone else's details on your card, and don't pretend to be another person or organisation.
•
Verified means verified. The verified check appears only on a card its own person made and confirmed. It cannot be bought, and we may remove it if a card stops meeting that rule.
•
You decide, per detail, who sees it: public, connections or hidden. Connections see your current card until either of you ends the connection.
If you create or administer an organisation on Cincio:
•
List only people who actually belong to your organisation, with their name, role and the organisation, and an email or phone number you hold for them at work. Never upload an address book or a list from elsewhere.
•
You confirm you have a lawful reason to list each person (for example, that clients need to find your staff) and that you will tell them they are listed.
•
Each listed person can claim their card (it then becomes theirs and you can no longer change it) or ask us to remove it; we remove it within 72 hours.
•
Removing someone from your organisation's listing never touches their own card or connections.
•
[Team plan, from 2027: billing through Polar as merchant of record; cancel any time; terms shown at checkout.]
•
Impersonate anyone, or make a card for a person who is not a member of your organisation.
•
Use Cincio to phish, defraud, harass, threaten or spam anyone, or to send connect requests in bulk.
•
Collect information from Cincio by scraping, crawling or automated requests, or use it to build another directory or marketing list.
•
Try to see details someone hid, get around a block, or break or overload Cincio's security or rate limits.
•
Post anything unlawful, or anything that infringes someone else's rights.
Anyone can report a card for impersonation, abuse or phishing, or ask for an unclaimed card about them to be removed, with or without an account. We act on impersonation and phishing reports within 24 hours and on removal requests within 72 hours. We may hide or remove a card, remove a verified check, or suspend an account that breaks these terms. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we tell you why and you can ask us to look again.
You can delete your account at any time in the app; deletion completes within 30 days, and you can download all your information first. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the law. If we ever stop offering Cincio, we will give you at least [30 days'] notice to download your information.
Cincio is offered free to individuals and is still being built. We work to keep it available and correct, but to the extent the law allows, it is provided "as is", without promises that it will always be available, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 or other law that cannot be excluded.
To the extent the law allows, Cincio is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by what other people put on their cards. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to [the greater of what you paid Cincio in the 12 months before the claim and R500]. This does not limit liability for gross negligence, fraud, or anything the law does not allow us to limit.
We will post changes here with a new date and tell signed-in users in the app at least [14 days] before a change that reduces your rights takes effect. If you keep using Cincio after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.
South African law governs these terms. Tell us first and we will try to resolve it; otherwise the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction, without taking away any right a consumer has to approach a regulator or court where they live.
